NEWS and Review: Mini Cinnamon Buns With Coffee-Caramel Sauce in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Oooh have we got a great new breakfast or snack option for you in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom!

Get ready for some new eats in Animal Kingdom!

If cinnamon is your jam, Isle of Java just introduced a sweet treat that needs to be on your “snacks to buy” list in AK. And wait until you hear about the dipping sauce! Let’s dive in…

So I gotta give props to Isle of Java, who keep delivering with random baked goods that tbqh are more than you should expect from a theme park coffee kiosk.

Isle of Java in Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Today, we ran across some brand new mini cinnamon buns at this Joffrey’s location, and you know we had to get ’em.

And, yeah, even though we’d just stuffed ourselves at the brand new Restaurantosaurus Burgers and Sundaes dinner experience…we were totally glad we’d tried these little sweeties.

The buns themselves were moist and substantial. Even though it was evening, we still had a decent couple of rolls here rather than a set of dry, crumbly, stale pastries (which, let’s be fair, most cinnamon buns have degraded to this point by early evening in other baked goods locations).

A bun of substance

Inside, again, a good amount of buttery moisture made this one worth the dough…in every respect.

But let’s take a minute to talk about that dipping sauce. This isn’t your standard cream cheese dipping sauce (don’t get me wrong — I am NEVER going to throw shade at a cream cheese dipping sauce), but instead, here’s Animal Kingdom giving us a little something exotic.

Coffee Caramel Dipping Sauce

Coffee…Caramel? I mean…why hasn’t this been happening FOREVER? It’s different. It’s exotic. But it SHOULDN’T be…right? Coffee and caramel seem like they should be made for each other. And with this sauce, they were. The coffee was the stronger flavor here for sure, but the caramel flavor cut through the bitterness and brought the sweet.

Overall the cinnamon buns are a (remarkably decent version of a) reliable, recognizable pastry, and that dipping sauce brings a fun, unique-but-shouldn’t-really-be-all-that-strange flavor to the mix. Are we singing about them from the rooftops? Nope. But when we find a cinnamon roll that can hold up to our scrutiny, we’re definitely going to mention it to you. You can grab them for $4.29 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit.
